Two Governors from the North Rift Region have called for full devolution of Agricultural functions.
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and his West Pokot counterpart Prof. John Lonyangapuo says that this will help increase production and fix challenges facing the sector.
Speaking during the West Pokot Agricultural Show at the Kishaunet Showground, Governor Sang said counties are already doing the bulk of the work associated with the docket but are seriously strained because of lack of funds.
The Governor said there were many challenges in the Agriculture sector because the docket was still under National Government management.
“The solutions to the many challenges that we have within the Agriculture sector can never be found in Nairobi, these challenges of cartels who are invading agriculture is because agriculture is still managed from Nairobi, said Governor Sang.
Governor Lonyangapuo said devolution was working well in most counties hence need for more funds.
