Baringo North MP William Cheptumo on Sunday rallied his colleagues to support the two thirds gender Bill.
Cheptumo, who spoke during a fundraising service at Mogotio Catholic church, urged Members of Parliament to pass the Bill.
The legislator said the bill had received backing from President Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
“As you have seen even Raila Odinga has rallied MPs from his party to support the Bill. This is a clear indication that it will sail through,”said Cheptumo.
Several MPs from the North Rift region have publicly opposed the bill which seeks to meet the threshold and have more women in both the Senate and the National Assembly.
The Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2018, is sponsored by the National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale.
The church function was attended by Water CS Simon Chelugui, Foreign Affairs CS Ambassador Monica Juma, Mogotio MP Daniel Tuitoek and Kenya Power Director Susan Chesinya.
