Matatu operators in Eldoret have NM called for the review of the new PSV rules before its implemented next week.
Speaking in Eldoret town led by the the Chepkoilel Matatu Sacco Chairman Fred Wamu, they said the rules are retrogressive, selective and mainly targeting matatu owners.
” The rules are very selective and they target matatu owners yet they should also arrest careless drivers” he said.
Wamu said PSV drivers should take full responsibility if found flouting traffic rules.
He said passengers have also a role in bringing sanity in matatu industry, saying most of them do not use safety belt forcing their vehicles to be impounded.
” I want to urge passenger to ensure they comply with the traffic rules since its for their own safety,” said Wamu.
