The shooting to death of four civilians in Kolongolo, Kwanza Constituency, by police has sparked protests from politicians and locals in Trans Nzoia.
Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny has condemned Sunday’s killings which he termed ‘senseless’.
“I condemn with the strongest terms possible the senseless killings of five civilians by security personnel in Kolongolo area, Kwanza Constituency, Trans Nzoia County on Sunday evening,”said Kutuny in a statement to media outlets.
Kutuny said the brutal killings, which also left Speaker Joshua Werunga and several others with injuries, must be investigated and those responsible brought to book.
“I am calling on the Internal Security CS Fred Matiangi and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett to launch investigations into the killings and ensure that police officers involved in the shooting incident are made to account for their action,”he said.
He added,”I condole with the families and relatives who lost their loved ones during the shooting incident. I wish the injured quick recovery”.
During the incident villagers were shot by police officers in the bloody confrontation.
The officers had gone to arrest a man suspected to have attacked a woman but faced resistance from locals.
Already the police officer involved in the shooting has been arrested as probe into the incident goes on.
