Daniel Kipchumba and Valerie Aiyabei won the inaugural edition of the Rimoi/Kapnarok half marathon.
In the men’s race Kipchumba crossed the finish line in 1:02.57 to be crowned the winner in the men’s category.
He was followed by Noah Kipkemboi and Mathew Kemboi who clocked 1:03.15 and 1:03.31 to secure the second and third places respectively.
Ayabei won the women’s category by clocking 1:11.20 and was followed by Antonina Kwambai and Naomi Chepng’etich who came in second and third.
The race which was flagged off at Salawa saw winners cross the line at Biretwo, Elgeyo Marakwet.
The duo braved high temperatures in the race run in the Kerio Valley.
The winners each took home Sh100,00 while first and second runners-up each pocketed Sh80,000 and Sh60,000 in that order.
The community race category saw the best male and female athlete awarded with pedigree bulls and water tanks to symbolise the conservation of environment in the area.
