This year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations in Trans Nzoia County will be held in Makutano Primary School, Cherangany constituency.
In a press release, the County Government of Trans Nzoia said this would be the first time the event will be held outside Kitale town, the county headquarters.
“The Jamhuri Day celebrations will be marked at Makutano Primary school in Cherangany Sub County, on Wednesday, December 12,”read the statement.
Since independence, national celebrations have been marked at Kitale Showground but the county will now be marking national holidays on a rotational basis in the five sub counties.
According to sources, Governor Patrick Khaemba’s administration made the decision to reach out to the people at the grassroots and make them feel part of the government.
The celebrations will be graced by Governor Khaemba who is expected to be joined by MP and MCAs from the county.
