West Pokot County leaders have been irked following a move by Turkana leaders to skip a joint peace meeting.
The leaders from West Pokot and Turkana counties had organised the joint peace meeting at Sarimach.
However Turkana leaders failed to turn up to witness the return of livestock that had been stolen from the area by suspected bandits.
West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo criticised the fact that Turkana leaders and elders failed to show up for the meeting.
“We were expecting our counterparts from Turkana but unfortunately they didn’t show up,” he said.
Leaders from the two communities met last week at Kainuk in Turkana County and resolved to end the new wave of cattle theft and killings that have claimed six people in the last two months.
The latest killings included two senior County officials from Turkana who were shot dead in a retaliatory attack while on their way to Nakwamoru from Kapelbok along the border of the two Counties.
