A section of Members of Baringo County Assembly have said that they have no plans to impeach Governor Stanley Kiptis.
Addressing the press in Kabarnet on Monday the MCAs rubbished the impeachment plan by a civil society group saying it is politically motivated.
This comes after reports that there were plans by civil society groups to impeach Governor Kiptis due to his administration’s poor performance.
However MCAs drawn from the Jubilee party, led by Majority Whip Reuben Chepsongol defended Kiptis’ leadership and accused political rivals of being behind the move.
“We are not ready for impeachment at moment. Governor Kiptis should be given time to deliver,”said Chepsongol.
He said civil society group have no powers to impeach the Governor.
Tenges MCA Silas Tochim said the County Government has inutiated a number of projects and claims that no cash was spent on development was false.
The MCAs accused a section of residents of blowing the expenditure claims out of proportion.
Last week the Controller of Budget reported that Baringo County did not spend any penny on development in the first quarter of the 2018/19 financial year.
