Uasin County Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has criticised the National Treasury over slow disbursement of funds to counties.
Speaking in Mosop Constituency during the funeral and burial ceremony of Sammy Rono, a brother to Former Nandi Governor Dr Cleophas Lagat, Governor Mandago said the National Treasury was to blame for stalled projects in counties.
He said the delay in disbursement of funds has greatly affected the implementation of development projects and service delivery.
“We have a disbursement schedule but the National Treasury has totally ignored it,”said Mandago.
He asked Senators to push for timely disbursements of funds to enable devolved units to optimally perform their functions.
Governor Mandago said they had initially agreed to work harmoniously with the National Government but with the sluggish nature of the National Government in disbursement of funds they are contemplating a change in tact.
He further revealed that county bosses will back the referendum if it will increase allocation to devolved units.
