Trans Nzoia County Government has started installations of modern medical equipment at the County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Last week the Deputy Governor Dr Stanley Tarus visited to check on the progress of the ongoing equipping of the facility.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Tarus said the new equipment will improve the quality of health care in the region.
“The Referral hospital once completed, will have special units for MRI, CT scan, dialysis machines, six modern theaters, cancer center and an ICU section among other specialised sections with a combined bed capacity of 350,”said Dr Tarus.
The County Deputy Governor blamed the irregular flow of funds from the National treasury, saying it slowed down the pace of construction of the hospital.
He however pointed out that the issue had been sorted out and that they expect the facility to be operational by mid this year.
“Already major medical equipment has been supplied, we are hoping to commence operations at the new facility, mid this year,” added Tarus.
