Businessman Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop on Saturday presided over the inking of a deal that will see farmers buy a bag of fertiliser at Sh3,000.
Buzeki who had convened a farmers meeting at Kenmosa grounds in Eldoret town following recent reports that the government will not import subsidised fertiliser.
The Former Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant said he had sought the partnership of the Exports Trading Group Inputs Kenya Ltd (ETG) to rescue farmers from the looming shortage of fertiliser.
ETG which was represented by Charles Lewis signed an Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) that will also see the company purchase maize from the farmers at Sh1,900 per 90kg bag
“Already we have 30,000 bags of DAP in Eldoret and we are receiving another consignment of 100,000 bags in the coming week,”said Buzeki.
The businessman has also committed to ensure his Buzeki transport company will provide transportation and other logistical support for farmers.
He said the fertiliser will be supplied to farmers through co-operative societies.
Farmers in the region have welcomed the move saying it is a great a relief as they prepare for the planting season.
