West Pokot County leaders have condemned the recent renewed banditry attacks and killings in the volatile region along the West Pokot –Turkana border.
Speaking over the weekend during a function at Kachemogen Secondary school, Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto urged the government to beef up security along the border.
Moroto said a pastor was killed on Friday by suspected bandits from Turkana County at Sarmach and lamented that the region is slowly going back to where it was three years after peace prevailed.
He accused the president for burdening the interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i who could have so far toured the place and arrest those leaders who propagate hate for security to be restored.
“Matiang’i should concentrate on security alone because since he took over other roles insecurity has been on the rise,”he said.
He further called on the the independent oversight Authority [IPOA] to intervene in the issue where police brutality and harassment along the West Pokot and Turkana border .
