An orphan who was diagnosed with acute leukemia is still seeking the support of well-wishers to raise Sh4.5 million for bone marrow transplant.
Jude Rono, who is currently admitted at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital on Sunday received financial support from Kesses MP Mishra Kiprop and Former Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer.
The leaders raised Sh1 million and Sh500,000 respectively to aid Jude as he seeks to be airlifted to India for the transplant.
During the visit, Dr Mishra pledged to renegotiate the transplant cost using his connections in India.
A funds drive is scheduled for Saturday 16th January, with hopes that the remaining Sh4.5 million will be raised.
Leaders who have pledged to support Jude during the fundraiser include, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago,Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Ambassador Prof Julius Bitok and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi who is the team leader.
Other leaders expected at the fundraiser include; Lands CS Farida Karoney, Senator Prof. Margaret Kamar, Soy MP Caleb Kositany and Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut.
Friend of Jude have also appealed for contributions through the Safaricom’s Lipa na MPesa platform.

Until two months ago Jude was a joyful young man full of energy, who used to work hard to upkeep himself and his small sister who is in college.
But currently, Jude can not continue with his normal life because of the disease he was diagnosed with in December last year.
