Water CS Simon Chelugui has distanced himself from the scandal riddled duo-dam projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
In a comprehensive statement detailing ongoing and stalled dam projects, CS Chelugui said Kimwarer and Arror dam projects are not under his Water and Sanitation docket.
Chelugui pointed out that the two mega projects, being investigated over alleged loss of Sh21 billion, are under the Ministry of East African Cooperation and Regional Development.
He said the construction of the two dams were to be implemented by the Kerio Valley Development Authority(KVDA).
“The Arror and Kimwarer dams are being implemented by the Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) which is domiciled under the Ministry of East African Cooperation and Regional Development and not the Ministry of Water and Sanitation,”said Chelugui.
Chelugui under his watch, there has been no abuse or misuse of public funds.
He also sought to dismiss media reports that he is among those who have been summoned to record statements over the dam projects.
“I however reiterate my commitment and support to the President’s fight against corruption and through my strict policy of zero tolerance to corruption,”he said.
“I wish to assure Kenyans that anyone found engaging in any corrupt practice shall face the full force of the law,”he added.
