Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has welcomed the appointment of former Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to the executive.
In a statement through his social media page, Senator Murkomen lauded Boinnet whom he said served the country with dignity, commitment and hard work during his tenure as Inspector General of Police.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate my friend and former IG Joseph Boinnet on his appointment as CAS Tourism and Wildlife. Mr.Boinnet served the country as IG with dignity, commitment and hard work,” he said.
Senator Murkomen said Boinnet left an “enduring legacy” in the National Police Service and expressed optimism that he will succeed in his new post.
“He left an enduring legacy in the police service. I strongly believe that he will equally excel in his new station. May God continue to bless him even as He expands his boundaries,” he added.
Boinnet was on Wednesday appointed as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
President Uhuru Kenyatta gave the former top cop the new job hours after retiring from National Police Service (NPS).
Boinnet will be succeeded by Hilary Mutyambai if the National Assembly approves his nomination.
Mutyambai is the current deputy director of Counter-Terrorism Coordination at National Intelligence Service (NIS).
