A middle aged man in Kapluk in Barwessa ward, Baringo North has lost his life after being bitten by a snake.
The incident took place Harun Kipchumba was hearding his cattle when the snake bit him on the leg.
Confirming the incident Kabutiei sublocation senior asssistant chief Alfred Cherutich said he was called at around 7pm and he was informed that there was someone who had been bitten by a snake where he rushed there.
“I tied the lifeless body on a Motorbike and took it to Kapluk Dispensary where he waited until morning when an ambulance from Barwessa Dispensary arrived and carried the body to Baringo Referral Hospital,”Kabutiei sublocation senior asssistant Chief said.
“Those who were with him tried to offer first aid by tying his leg above the knee to prevent the poison from spreading first. Then they used a bodaboda to rush him to Kapluk Dispensary, but unluckily he died on the way” he revealed.
The Chief called on the county government to ensure that all health facilities in snake prone areas are stocked with antivenom drugs to avert such cases in future.
This brings the number of those who have succumbed to snake bites in the Kerio valley region to 7 within a span of one year.
Three weeks ago a class seven pupil also died after being bitten by a snake in Kampi Nyasi in Bartabwa ward.
