Racecourse Member of County Assembly Amos Kiptanui have urged the county government to sensitize residents on the need of physical exercises due to rising of diseases related to lifestyle including cancer, diabetes and others.
He asked the county government to put more effort and resources to ensure that the residents are trained on physical health so as to curb challenges associated with the said deadly diseases.
Moving a motion on behalf of Cheptiret/ Kipchamo Member of County Assembly Gilbert Tenai, Kiptanui said that statistics on annual death indicate that at least 40% are caused by non communicable disease due to change in lifestyle.
“Am urging the county government through the department of health to sensitize the people of Uasin Gishu since communication is their right according to the constitution so that they have equal protection and knowledge” he said.
Supporting the motion, Tembelio Member of County Assembly Pius Kigen added that many people are dying from lifestyle diseases and that it high time for the county government to take immediate action.
