West Pokot Women Representative Lilian Tomitom and her Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart Jane Chebaibai are among Members of Parliament who have never spoken in parliament since they were sworn in.
According to information on mzalendo.com, an online platform that keeps tabs on the performance of MPs, the two North Rift legislators representing women, have never said a word in parliament one year later after their election.
Ironically, the women reps have been vocal during functions in their counties especially those attended by the Deputy President William Ruto.
Other first time women representatives from the region are recorded to have spoken as follows; Gladys Boss Shollei(Uasin Gishu- 40, Tecla Tum(Nandi)-20 and Gladwell Cheruiyot(Baringo)-13.
The report shows that second term women reps Joyce Emanikor and Janet Nangabo from Turkana and Trans Nzoia county respectively have spoken 350 and 124 times in that order.
