Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago on Thursday evening hosted a public Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the County Headquarters.
The event, which was attended by county staff, officially marks the kick off of the holiday season in the county.
Speaking during the tree lighting ceremony, Governor Mandago urged residents in the region to extend their generosity to the less fortunate members of the society during the festive season.
“We should help those who are less fortunate in the society. Let us make our contribution and touch their lives during this festive season,” he said.
Governor Mandago at the same time assured residents that adequate security will be provided for them during the Christmas season.
He pointed out that sufficient security measures have already been put in place.
