Turkana County Governor Josphat Nanok has welcomed positive criticism of his administration’s performance.
This comes after a tweet by flamboyant lawyer Donald B. Kipkorir that there was no evidence of devolution in the vast county.
“After staying in Turkana over the weekend and driving across it, I confirm Turkana is not Kenya. Turkana is frozen in time as at its cradle: no water, no roads, people still in huts made of twigs, no hospitals, few mud-walled schools. No evidence of devolution,”tweeted DKB.
However while responding to the tweet, Governor Nanok joked Turkana got independent and rejoined Kenya at the inception of devolution in 2013.
“Basic services that were non existent to approximately 1 million food scarce population living in 77,000 kilometer square landmass became core priority. To date of the KSh 45 billion received, 70 per cent of it is going to service delivery. Overall the injection only meets 15 per cent needs identified in the CIDP,”responded Nanok.
The County boss welcomed the controversial lawyer to visit the county again and to continuously advice.
“We and you learn more about each other through positive engagement; seeing, hearing and feeling. Welcome and let us make home of mankind a better place for those who remained there and their visiting descendants,”added Nanok.
Lawyer Kipkorir later pointed out that his criticism was not malicious but meant to motivate Governor Nanok to deliver.
