Uasin Gishu Senator Prof Margaret Kamar has been nominated for the Work Her Dream(WHDO) impact award.
The impact award was created to recognise those who have made immense contribution in girl child education.
According to Work Her Dream organisation(WHDO), Prof Kamar was nominated for her positive impact and inspiration to girls under WHDO and other children in Kenya to pursue their education and dreams.
The organisation also noted that Kamar has been championing for access to education as the current chairperson, Senate Education Committee.
Her service and leadership as the Minister for Higher Education Science and Technology in 2011-2013, was also considered for her nomination.
WHDO provides access to education and other learning materials to eligible girls and vulnerable children.
The organisation will be awarding the legislator for using her various positions to benefit girl child education.
The award ceremony will take place at a gala dinner at the Boma Inn Hotel in Eldoret on the 22nd December 2018.
This will be Kamar’s second award this year, in recognition of her service delivery.
Last month, the Senator was feted by Echo Africa Network group in recognition and appreciation of her exemplary contribution to women leadership and to society.
