Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has criticised Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji’s modus operandi of arresting graft suspects on Friday.
Through his social media pages, Senator Murkomen said the Friday arrests in the ongoing graft purge is a violation of the constitution.
He also termed it “weaponisation of the fight against corruption”.
“The arrest of Peter Wanyama and Tom Ojienda and indeed many Kenyans on Fridays for cases which have been under investigation for weeks, months and even years is a violation of our Constitution and weaponization of the fight against corruption!” Murkomen posted.
The arrests popularly known as “Kamata Kamata Friday” have been the order of the day in the recent past.
A number of graft suspects have been arrested on Friday evenings and forced to spend weekends behind bars.
