Turkana County Government has dropped ward administrators from the ward bursary appraisal committees.
In a circular by the County Education Minister, Patrick Losike, the ward administrators will now be replaced sub county education officers.
“This is to ask all the patrons to drop the appointment letters of all ward administrators as the acting secretaries to ward appraisal committees in their respective wards since the act does not provide these roles,”said Losike in the circular.
“The patrons to assume their duties and responsibilities as the secretaries to the ward appraisal committees,”he added.
Losike said this was in line with section 12(b) of Turkana County Education and Skill Development(Amendment) Act 2016 which states; section 12(b) of the principal act is amended in section 12 subsection (b) by deleting the words ‘ward administrators’ appearing immediately after the word ‘the’ to read; 12(a) Sub County Education Officer who shall act as the ward education officer for that ward, who shall be the Secretary to the ward committee.
