Trans Nzoia County leaders on Friday gave a wide berth to Deputy President William Ruto’s visit.
The Deputy President was at the Kitale showgrounds during celebrations to mark PEFA church Bishop Samuel Thiong’o’s 50 years Ministry.
However leaders from the area boycotted the event.
It is not clear why the leaders kept off the function despite indications that an earlier communication had been made about the presence of the Deputy President.
Governor Patrick Khaemba, Senator Michael Mbito, Women Rep Janet Nangabo and MPs led by Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa who has been a vocal supporter of DP Ruto were conspicuously absent.
Only Saboti MP Caleb Amisi was present though he clarified that he was there on the invitation of the church and not because the Deputy President was around.
Amisi has been an ardent critic of DP Ruto.
