Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly has rejected 12 individuals that have been nominated by Governor Alex Tolgos as Chief Officers.
Speaker Kiplagat Sabulei in a ruling on Tuesday, pointed out that the list of nominations did not meet the two-thirds gender rule.
Out of the 12 nominees for the position of Chief Officer, only three, Lorna Kipsang(Tourism), Mary Jemutai(Health) and Loretta Cheptoo(Public Service Management), were women.
The new development throws Governor Tolgos back to the drawing board to nominate at least four women among the 12 nominees for CO post.
Apart from the three women, Governor Tolgos had also nominated; Kibore Benson(Livestock), Kimaiyo Geoffrey(Roads), Tanui Josphat(Water), Bett Nicholas(Education) and Seronei Edwin(Agriculture).
Others are;Nixon Changwony(Finance), Mark Chesergon(Office of the Governor) and Kiptum Timothy(Economic Planning).
