World Marathon Record Holder Eliud Kipchoge is getting his own street in Eldoret the City of Champions.
Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has revealed that a street, within the central business district, will be renamed in honour of Kipchoge after he made history, becoming the first human to run a marathon race in under two hours.
Chemno led thousands of residents who turned up to follow the Ineos 1.59 Challenge at the county screen mounted along Uganda road.
The Deputy Governor said Kipchoge has brought glory to the country and Uasin Gishu County and therefore deserves a street named in his honour.
“We will give him a befitting welcome when he returns home from Vienna. We will also name a street in his honour,” said Chemno.
