World Marathon Record holder Eliud Kipchoge has threatened to sue a Radio station for breach of brand rights.
Through City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir, Kipchoge says NRG Radio has been marketing itself using his name without his consent.
In the letter, Kipchoge demanded that the radio station expunges his name, images and references from all its platforms within two hours.
The timeline for apology is symbolic with the 1.59.40 time that Kipchoge used to become the first human to complete a marathon in under two hours.
Kipchoge has also demanded that the station issue an apology for violation of his rights and misuse of his name, image and reputation.
“Without his permission, authority or license or any colour of rights you changed the name of your station top line on your social media pages and online blogs to Kipchopge Radio and KipchogeRadioNRGRadioKenya,” read part of the demand letter.
Kipchoge said NRG radio’s action violated the communication law in Kenya and will attract criminal liability.
