Baringo County Governor Stanley Kiptis on Thursday opened maternity units in two health facilities in Baringo North Sub County.
The two health facilities in Baringo North with new maternity units are Barbarchun and Kaptum.
The maternity units were equipped with support from USAID, under their Afya Uzazi program.
The move is geared towards ensuring women deliver safely closer to their homes.
Governor Kiptis also opened Tunoiwo dispensary in what he said was part of his agenda to improve access to high quality, timely, affordable and reliable health services a right of every citizen.
“The opening of these facilities will be a great relieve to the residents of the areas who previously had to travel long distance in search of health services,” said Kiptis.
He said his administration will continue to invest in the health sector until universal health coverage is attained in the county.
Governor Kiptis was accompanied by USAID Chief of Party Dr. Boniface Maket and Health CEC Mary Panga among others.
