Trans Nzoia Women Rep Janet Nangabo has said she will contest for the Governor’s seat in 2022.
The county woman MP said he will be in the race to succeed Governor Patrick Khaemba, who is serving his second and last term.
Nangabo, who spoke during the Inua Mama empowerment meeting in Nandi County, said women have to fight for their space and utilize their strength in numbers.
“In 2022 I will fight it out with men for the Governorship in Trans Nzoia. I have had an excellent record in politics having started as a councillor and now a women representative and now I am aiming for the top county seat,” said Nangabo, popularly referred to as ‘Mama Utamu’.
The race to succeed Governor Khaemba has attracted a number of candidates including Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, Deputy President William Ruto’s aides; Abraham Sing’oei and Kakai Bisau and Cosmas Nabungolo.
Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa is also rumoured to be eyeing the gubernatorial post.
