Kenya Revenue Authority has lauded Elgeyo Marakwet County for being the only devolved unit that fully remitted its taxes.
The Taxman made the announcement when he paid Governor Alex Tolgos a courtesy call in his office at Iten on Wednesday.
“Elgeyo Marakwet emerged top in our assessment this year both in payment of Pay As You Earn (PAYE), Income tax, Withholding VAT and filing returns in time,” said Mr Andrew Mpung’u, the agency’s Regional Manager in charge of Domestic taxes.
The Taxman will deliver a Certificate of recognition to the County alongside other counties that remitted their taxes timely.
The County Boss appreciated the recognition and extended an invitation to the taxman to join other corporate organizations sponsoring Social Corporate Investments such as the annual Marathons in Iten Municipality.
Governor Tolgos also asked the Taxman to consider posting its staff to the local_ “One stop shop” Huduma Centre in Iten Town for purposes of helping Wananchi and specifically guiding suppliers and contractors on how to navigate through Tax compliance requirements.
Other senior KRA officials in the meeting included regional head of Public Sector Division Ms.Rose Komen, Tax service officer Joseph Martim head of marketing Ms. Winnie Mugo.
