Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i has been forced to land in Eldoret due to bad weather as he was headed to Kapenguria, West Pokot.
CS Matiang’i who was aboard a military helicopter, was headed to Kapenguria to visit victims of the deadly landslides that claimed over 40 lives.
He was accompanied by his Devolution Counterpart Eugene Wamalwa, IG Hillary Mutyambai and Regional Police Commissioner George Natembea among other senior security officers.
“The weather is very bad and we have been forced to land in Eldoret,”said Matiang’i.
The CS said he was likely to stay in Eldoret and wait for the weather to improve or be forced to go back to Nairobi until the next day.
He said the government has dispatched food and other materials to support the victims.
