Pokot South MP David Pkosing on Friday officially opened Tangasia milk cooling plant.
The community milk cooler was funded by the National Government-Constituency Development Fund(NG-CDF).
Speaking during the commissioning of the milk cooler which has a capacity of 2,000 litres, Pkosing said the facility will greatly reduce the cost of transportation that dairy farmers in the region have had to incur in the past.
“Establishing more milk collection and cooling plants will not only eliminate the use of milk cans but reduce cost of transportation,”said Pkosing.
The lawmaker said there was need to develop the dairy industry so that it can complement farmers’ incomes.
The event in Tapach Ward was attended by leaders including West Pokot Women Rep Lilian Tomitom and West Pokot County Assembly Speaker Catherine Mukenyang among others.
