Kapsisiywa is Kipchoge’s village secondary school.
The development followed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive that a library be built and named after the marathoner following his exploits in Vienna where he became the first man to run 42 kilometers in under two hours, clocking a jaw-dropping 1hr 59min and 40sec.
The Kenyan superstar who holds the marathon world record and is the reigning Olympic champion was recently during the Mashujaa Day Celebrations in Mombasa awarded by President Kenyatta with the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, Kenya’s highest civilian honor.
