Turkana County Deputy Governor Peter Lotethiro on Wednesday officially opened an induction and performance workshop for the second cycle of Delivering as One(DAO) framework.
The DAO framework brings together the county government,United Nations, private sector and development partners.
The DAO strives to improve County’s capability to manage partners within one programmatic framework in the implementation of development priorities in the County.
Speaking in Lokichoggio during the official opening, the Deputy Governor said enhanced cooperation and coordination between the government and the partners would stimulate and strengthen prosperous implementation of the joint program that started in 2015 and ends in 2022.
“Pooling resources under the Delivering as One(DAO)approach is fundamental towards creation of impactful sustainable development growth in the County,” said Lotethiro.
He said the move will help in realization of County Integrated development Program(CIDP) that runs in tandem with the program.
The Deputy County Boss at the same time assured participants of County government’s commitment to fully support the program through human capital support of personnel, same way it has done to Kalobeyei Integrated Socio-Economic Development Program(KISDEP) that advocates for integration of host community and refugees through shared available resources.
DAO coordinator Susan Aletia pointed out that community and priority driven targets would contribute to the successful delivery of the program.
On his part United Nations(UN) Head of Regional Coordination office Per Knutsson said that the Program is tailored to socially empower residents in this region.
The Program was developed after an assessment was done by United Nations and Turkana County government on development projects in 2014 and operates under four strategic key areas that includes; Transformative governance,Human capital development, inclusive and sustainable growth, environmental sustainability,Land management and human security.
The event was attended by senior Turkana County officers including, Deputy County Secretary, CECs and Chief Officers.
