After reports that renowned Eldoret basket weaver Samson Charles was being forcefully evicted from his ‘workplace’ by county askaris, it is now reported that he is being relocated to a new location within the markets.
Charles is an entrepreneur who has been weaving baskets by the roadside near St Luke’s Hospital along Nandi Road in Eldoret, and selling to residents.
The transfer of Charles will allow the county government to control piling waste which he has been recycling.
He will be moved to a controlled zone so that his source of the plastic strappings are managed.
Is the move justifiable?
