Deputy President William Ruto has mocked Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over the win in the just concluded Kibra mini poll.
In a congratulatory message to Benard Imran Okoth, Ruto said despite his candidate, McDonald Mariga, not winning the seat, they have served a notice.
The notice is in reference to ‘Baba’s bedroom’ , after Raila referred Kibra as his. In a veiled attack, Ruto said his team had dared to invade the so called bedroom.
He also pointed out that compared to 2017, the poll result shows that Jubilee has doubled its support base in Kibra.
“Pongezi Benard Okoth for Kibra. Congrats Mariga, Team Jubilee and supporters for daring the so called ‘bedroom’, braving the chaos/violence, to double our vote from 12%(2017) to 26% now. Our competitors came down 78% (2017) to 52%,”said Ruto.
“They retained the seat we have served notice,”he added.
The Kibra seat had been largely seen as a do or die fight between Ruto and Raila.
Ruto had said a loss for Raila in the mini poll would have marked the end of an era for the Former Primer.
This forced Raila to marshal his troops and seek reinforcement from Kamba Governor’s in bid to secure his ‘bedroom’.
