Keiyo South MP Daniel Rono, popularly known as Kamlesh, has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against plans to extend his stay in power beyond 2022.
Speaking in his constituency over the weekend, the MP said they are aware that through the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI), President Kenyatta has an hidden agenda, that of extending his stay in power.
“We don’t know what is in BBI, but what we know is that it is an attempt by Uhuru Kenyatta to extend his leadership in Kenya,”said Rono.
He however termed the move unacceptable and that Rift Valley will oppose Uhuru’s bid to gun for the Prime Minister position in 2022.
“Mr Uhuru Kenyatta we will not allow you to be the Prime Minister of Kenya,”warned the lawmaker.
He said after the end of Uhuru’s term in 2022, they will support Deputy President William Ruto to take over.
The legislator further queried why President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga are already in support of BBI while the report has not yet been handed over to them.
Rono, who is a close ally of DP Ruto, at the same time slammed Raila saying he was ‘too old’ to lead the country.
“Raila has made an attempt for the presidency four times and failed, it is enough. Let him retire, an 80-year old will lead the country to where?”He added.
