West Pokot County has rolled out plans to acquire an air ambulance.
Speaking in his county on Friday, Governor Lonyangapuo said elaborate plans have been set in motion to acquire a chopper to boost emergency medical services.
He said during his recent visit to the United States(US), he entered talks with partners for the acquisition of a chopper ambulance that will cost about Sh300 million.
“As a county we need to improve our emergency health services and I don’t see anything wrong in us acquiring a chopper ambulance,”said Lonyangapuo.
He said the chopper ambulance will ease movement of patients in dire need of emergency health services.
Lonyangapuo pointed out that a number of places, in the vast county, were still inaccessible by road especially during heavy rains and that the air ambulance service is of great importance.
In his campaigns, Governor Lonyangapuo had pledged to acquire a chopper for emergency medical services.
West Pokot will enter history books as the only devolved unit with air ambulance services.
