Uasin Gishu County Senator Margaret Kamar, Soy MP Caleb Kositany and Nandi Women Rep Dr Tecla Tum are among lawmakers who have been nominated for the 5th edition of annual awards for pushing issues of great public interest in Parliament.
The Shujaaz awards is sponsored by mzalendo.com, a website that monitors MPs’ performance in the House.
Senator Kamar was nominated in agriculture and food security category, for the role she played during the crisis that face maize farmers.
The lawmaker sought a statement on the maize situation in the country.
Dr Tum’s nomination in the health category, was due to her motion seeking to introduce free cervical cancer screening.
Kositany was nominated in the lands category following his motion on establishment of policy guidelines on acquisition of land for expansion of public schools.
The voting process was officially opened yesterday and voting can be done through by clicking Shujaa Awards or by SMS; sending a message to 21516 with the name of the lawmaker and category.
Voting will be closed on Friday, 6th December at 5pm.
