Motorists using the Kitale-Lodwar highway have been advised to exercise caution.
The Kenya National Highway Authority(KeNHA) said following heavy rains experienced in the region a section of the road at Ortum has been cut off.
“Following heavy rains that have been experienced across the country, a section of the Kitale – Lodwar (A1) Road has been temporarily cut off at Ortum in West Pokot County,”read a statement from the authority.
KeNHA said they are working on desilting and backfilling the cut off section and asked motorist to use a diversion.
“Motorists are advised to use the existing diversion as we desilt and backfill the cut off section,”the statement went on.
“KeNHA advises, motorists to exercise caution, patience and not attempt crossing overtopped and cut off sections of any road. We are currently monitoring the entire KeNHA road network for prompt interventions,” they added.
