Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has said a referendum is inevitable.
Speaking in Likuyani over the weekend, Wamalwa said the constitution has clearly outlined the routes to be taken in case of amendments.
“Articles 255 and 257 of the Constitution clearly outlines that an amendment to the constitution can be done through a parliamentary initiative or a referendum,” he said.
He said the BBI report has proposals that can me amended in Parliament but some will have to be subjected to a popular vote.
Wamalwa said the BBI report is not 100 percent perfect and must be refined before being passed.
He said the proposal to bring back the position of the Prime Minister is among those that must be submitted to the people in a referendum.
