Turkana County Deputy Governor Peter Lotethiro on Monday launched a water and livelihood project in Turkana West Sub-County.
The Sh460 million project will be funded by the Danish government and implemented by the County Government in partnership with the Water Sector Trust Fund.
The Deputy Governor said the project will provide 6000 new households with water and sanitation services.
Lotethiro also noted that the project will improve coverage area of 2000 km with integrated water resources and rangeland management within the five ward.
The areas in Turkana West Sub County, which are set to benefit from the project are; Kakuma, Kalobeyei, Lopur, Songot and Lokichoggio wards.
“This project which is supported by danida is aimed at improving community resilience and sustainable utilization of natural resources for better business and improved livelihoods,” he said.
Turkana West MP Daniel Epuyo Nanok welcomed the project saying it will solve the perennial Water shortage and sanitation in the area once completed.
