Marakwet East MP Kangogo Bowen on Thursday met with Kenya Medical Training College(KMTC) Board Chair Prof. Philip Kaloki and Board Director Frederick Wamwaki to discuss the establishment of a new campus in his constituency.
Speaking during the meeting, Kangogo said 200 acres of land has been set aside for the establishment of KMTC Kerio Valley Campus.
The lawmaker said he also set aside Sh30 million, through the National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to kick off the construction of the institution.
“We will allocate Sh30 million each financial year for three years for the construction of the KMTC campus,” said Kangogo.
He further revealed that Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos will allocate an additional Sh50 million to the project.
According to the lawmaker, the establishment of the institution will create business and employment opportunities for youth.
He also pointed out that the institution will help communities living along Kerio Valley to coexist peacefully.
