Mosop MP Vincent Tuwei has faulted the Ministry of Agriculture for delays in the roll out of e-vouchers to maize farmers.
Speaking in his constituency, the lawmaker said the e-vouchers was to be used by farmers to buy subsidised fertiliser but has not yet been implemented ahead of the planting season.
“It is unfortunate that the Ministry of Agriculture has not issued e-vouchers to farmers and we are heading to the planting season,” said Tuwei.
The e-voucher is a system where farmers buy e-vouchers from agriculture offices in their counties and later redeem them at agro shops for subsidised fertilizer.
At the same time the legislator asked the Strategic Food Reserve(SFR) to release funds to National Cereals and Produce Board(NCPB) for the purchase of produce from farmers.
