Incoming Catholic Diocese of Eldoret Bishop Dominic Kimengich today received an heroic welcome in Eldoret from hundreds of faithful.
Kimengich is expected to be officially installed as the diocese’s bishop on Saturday, February 1.
The Bishop who was accompanied by members of the clergy and political leaders from the region, made a lap of honour around the Central Business District(CBD) to bless the town.
Residents lined up the streets to get a glimpse of the new Bishop, who waved back at the enthusiastic crowd.
Kimengich also visited the Uasin Gishu County Headquarters where he said a short prayer after signing the visitors book.
He was led by the host Governor Jackson Mandago, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos.
Other leaders present included Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar, Nandi Deputy Governor Dr Yulita Cheruiyot, MPs Silas Tiren(Moiben), Oscar Sudi(Kapseret), Caleb Kositany(Soy) William Kisang(Marakwet West).
Earlier the Bishop had been escorted as he crossed over to his new diocese by Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok and Loima MP Jeremiah Lomurukai.
