West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio has asked the County Government of West Pokot to settle pending bills.
Speaking in Kapenguria, Senator Poghisio said county funds have been withheld by the National Treasury over their failure to clear pending bills.
“The county government should settle pending bills to avoid crippling services occasioned by withheld funds,”said Poghisio.
Poghisio asked Governor John Lonyangapuo to ensure suppliers and contractors who had delivered their goods and services are paid their dues.
West Pokot is among counties which did not receive their December allocations over pending bills.
On Wednesday, Treasury CS Ukur Yatani released Sh14.5 billion to 24 counties that complied with the directive to settle eligible pending bills.
Governor Lonyangapuo has in the recent past maintained that he won’t clear the pending bills which he termed as questionable.
He said most of the projects undertaken in the previous regime are incomplete and marred by corruption.
