Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba on Thursday officiated the groundbreaking of the Sh800 million Kitale Business Centre.
Speaking during the event, Governor Khaemba said the construction of the business center is expected to be completed in 25 months.
Governor Khaemba said once complete, the five-storey business complex will accommodate 3,000 to 5,000 traders.
According to the county boss, the move will boost the county’s revenue base and decongest the town.
The construction of the business complex will use heavy metal technology which is faster compared to ordinary construction.
The governor, who was accompanied by his Deputy Dr Stanley Tarus, also inspected the bus park which has been completed and awaiting official opening.
Khaemba said the completed bus park will start to operate after the county engages an agency for revenue collection at the facility.
“You will not see any county worker collecting revenue at the facility since they may embezzle money,we want to put in place an agency which is to collect revenue under an automated system”said Khaemba.
