West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has called on the government to shut down all airports and entry points at borders in a bid to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Governor Lonyangapuo has faulted the national government for not taking a serious stand on quarantining individuals arriving in Kenya from other nations.
Lonyangapuo said that the officers working at the airports and entry border points are to blame for the increased cases of Coronavirus infections in Kenya.
Speaking while inspecting two isolation units for Coronavirus patients at Kapenguria County referral hospital after receiving equipment to help combat the pandemic, Lonyangapuo said that as a County they are ready and prepared to tackle any Covid-19 case.
He added that locals are being sensitized through local radio stations on the Coronavirus.
Kapenguria County Referral Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. David Karori said that a total of 45 health workers in the County have received training on how to treat and help Covid-19 patients.
Concerning a possible lock down, Governor Lonyangapuo said that the country’s leadership should look at advantages and disadvantages adding that there is the need to ensure Kenyans have enough food.
