We wish to first and foremost, we thank our health team, provincial administration led by County Commissioner, Deputy County Commissioner, ACCs, Chiefs, Assistance Chiefs and health volunteers for their tireless efforts in educationg our people and enforcing the Presidential and Governor H.E Governor Alex Tolgos’s directives on the prevention of Covid-19.

We wish also to thank the public for heading the call especially on handwashing, use of sanitizers, maintaining social distance and avoiding crowded places.
However we have noted with a lot of concern that there is a sizeable number of people who are not adhering to the preventive measures including, hotels, bars, boda boda carring more than one passengers.
All suspected cases whose samples were taken to national influenza centre turned negative.
We have however received so many visitors from hot spot Countries and we wish to request our community to report any individual who has arrived and has not adhered to the mandatory 14 days self quarantine.
We further wish to request the National Government to share with us the list of Kenyans who arrived since beginning of March 2020 and County of destination for ease of traceability.
On sensitization of this disease, we have dispatched a team of 112 PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICERS to various parts of the County to do sensitization and enforce the directives while our chiefs, assistant chiefs, village elders are working with 1,050 community health volunteers and Medical team to undertake house to house sensitization.
As a County we have a 20 bed isolation unit at Iten County refferal hospital and seven bed at Kapsowar Mission Hospital and in the process of operationalising 15 bed unit at Chepkorio health centre in Keiyo South.
Training of staff is ongoing for various cadres of staff on the management of Covid-19
We appeal to the Ministry of health to immediately release the personal protective equipment meant for our County.
Elgeyo Marakwet is a high risk County being a sports and tourismm destination with Europe being the epicentre most of our Athletes based in Europe and America are back to the villages some whom we are not aware on their movements.
We urge the public not to panic when they come across any suspected cases but call our Hot line number.
We urge our people to stay home. This is the only working strategy globally.
