Good afternoon Great People of West Pokot County.
As you are aware, the Covid 19 pandemic continues to rip the globe apart with severe social and economic effects.
As we speak now, we have (25) confirmed cases who have tested positive for the virus and hundreds others put under quarantine in Kenya and other Countries, Italy and China posting worrying figures.
The Government of Kenya has therefore set up a raft of measures to combat the Pandemic and see to it that we resume to nomalsy as soon as possible.
However, I am worried that my people we are treating this pandemic casually and are not therefore following measures set by the Government of Kenya, recommended by the Word Health Organization (WHO) on mechanims to combat this pandemic.
This I am certain will inturn hurt as more as COVID 19 is real and unbelievably dangerous.
These measures will definitely cause disruptions across our country and as a county we are no exception.
I urge all relevant ministries to continue to provide, as soon as is available clear, scientific and medical information, to our people to avoid unnecessary harm.
As a county we have embarked on sensitizing our locals through the local radio stations and other avenues.
As we embark on these steps; let’s observe basic hygiene by avoiding hand shakes and hugs, wash our hands with soap, use disposable tissues for coughing and sneezing, avoid touching our faces, sneezing into our elbows, following the 1 meter rule on social distancing, and above all let us stay home to flatten this curve of rising infections.
Remember, as we move the virus also moves, and as we stop the virus also stops.
Let us be each others keeper and take this responsibility with the seriousness it deserves. For if we treat this pandemic normally it will certainly treat us abnormally.
Finally my people let us bank on prayers.
